Local ballplayer breaks gender barriers in baseball | WGFL

One local athlete is proving that baseball isn’t just for the boys. Emma Mansfield is the only girl on her middle school baseball team at P. K. Yonge and her local travel ball team, Gatorball Baseball Academy. “She’s one of the better players on the team if not the best player on the team,” said P. K. Yonge coach Rob Brunson. Emma began her baseball journey at the age of four after watching her older brother play. She then started playing competitively at age seven.
